Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship

I am very excited to have recently been awarded a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust travelling fellowship. In 2010 I will be exploring how different brain scanning technologies (brain wave scanning - EEG and spatial, functional brain activity scanning -fMRI) are being promoted and adopted for 'lie-detection' purposes in different countries. I will be travel to India and the USA, countries leading development and use of these technologies, to explore whether claims about their reliability stand up to scrutiny. I will be updating my findings and publishing interviews with scientists, lawyers, ethicists here.
